The Arts Council is Ireland’s national agency for funding, developing and promoting the arts in Ireland. The Arts Council work in partnership with artists, arts organisations, public policy makers and others to build a central place for the arts in Irish life.

Arekibo were awarded the opportunity to design and develop the new internet site for the Arts Council. This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the artistic abilities of the Arekibo web design team. The design challenge was to create a simple, light, easy-to-navigate and accessible web site that offered visual interest while not distracting from the content. The new website includes a number search databases including the ability to search for available funding and funding decisions.

Arekibo worked closely with the Council to evaluate how best to structure the presentation and segmentation of information to meet their broad audiences requirements. This evaluation was both supported by internal and external input and the end result was an information architecture that positioned the organisation as inclusive, customer focused and committed to delivering value added services to the arts community.

The website is content managed  using the Arekibo IMS - content management solution and the site is available in English and Irish. The search databases are managed through the IMS and allow the Council to simply update all Funding related information without the need for technical expertise. The site also harnesses RSS functionality where users can subscribe for alerts on latest news and funding deadlines.

The site was launched in May 2007
