Enterprise Ireland helps Irish companies to grow and sustain positions in global markets producing innovative, high value products and services.
Arekibo were commissioned to redesign the Enterprise Ireland corporate site in 2003. The requirement was to design a site that would cater to a wide and varied audience both nationally and internationally. Arekibo worked closely with a number of departments within Enterprise Ireland from IT to Corporate Marketing to plan, design and implement a new customer focused internet presence that reflected the brand and delivered information to all users in a quick and intuitive manner.
From the outset of the project Arekibo led Enterprise Ireland through an intensive planning phase where all the information requirements and the user groups were discussed and evaluated. On completion of the stage there was unanimous agreement that the site should focus on the organisations five specialised set of services. The overall of objective of this agreement was to re-emphasise the organisations focus on helping Irish companies to grow and establish a position in the global market.
The five specialised services are:
- Starting a business
- Growing a business
- Exporting
- Research and Development
- Sourcing from Ireland
With this focus on their specialised set of services, Enterprise Ireland would then be in a position to focus on delivering a comprehensive set of services to the site user at whichever stage of development their business may be in. For example if the user is starting a business the site offers business advice, financial information and access to market research, technology, and human resources information all within the same section.
The site was developed to meet a strict XHTML validation, with the designs and layouts all controlled through CSS and the site itself delivered to meet Level 3 (AAA) WC3 Accessibility rating. The site is cross-browser compatible for all modern browsers and the colour schemes are designed to accommodate three forms of colour blindness. In terms of process master templates were built and delivered to the Enterprise Ireland IT department for integration into the in-house content management system.
Overall, the site and information architecture was jointly planned with Enterprise Ireland in 2003 and still to this day deliver a customer focused online experience supporting entrepreneurs and to encourage established businesses to grow and to reach international markets.
“I felt that the Arekibo people were able to get inside the brand and help us to understand better how we may be viewed by our clients. They were also able to refine our core message and communicate it very clearly online. Working with them was an excellent experience."
