The National Library of Ireland is responsible for collecting, preserving and making available books, manuscripts and illustrative material of Irish interest.

Arekibo were delighted to be commissioned to redevelop the National Library website. The project involved a dramatic overhaul of the existing website and to begin with Arekibo undertook a series of workshops with the Library staff to understand their opinions and requirements for the new website. This consultation period enabled both Arekibo and the Library’s management team to fully understand the internal expectations for the new site while ensuring that the institutions strategic objectives for the website were met.

Arekibo were responsible for the redesign and development of the site, which is built upon the Arekibo IMS. The website includes details information on the Library its services, its collection, Family History and Heraldry information. The site also includes virtual 360º tours of the Library – opening up the library’s doors to virtual visitors from around the world. The Libraries online services to its visitors has also been extended through an Ask a Librarian services, extensive online catalogues search functionality and the introduction of Digital Library that will be continually developed by the Library.

The redeveloped website was launched in August 2007 and an online shop will be added to the site in the near future
