Know Your Arekibian : Jennie
Next up on our team Thursday series is Jennie, a marketing executive at Arekibo who is one of Dublin GAA's number one fans!
One thing most people don’t know about you?
I have a degree in Deaf Studies so I have a pretty good level of Irish Sign Language.
Project you’re most proud of?
Not a client project, but the Arekibo blog. We have taken it more seriously recently uploading regularly with really interesting content on a variety of topics that our team specialises in, and the "Know Your Arekibian" series.
Favourite thing about your job?
Probably the variety - I could be helping on the support desk on Monday, helping with a marketing campaign on Tuesday and doing content support on a Wednesday.
3 things you have learned during your time in Arekibo?
- Communication is key to being part of a well structured team as you can't expect people to read your mind and a task will take 20 times longer to complete.
- Never be afraid to ask questions. I used to be worried about annoying colleagues but soon realised it's better to get the right answer than to guess an answer, and I am lucky my colleagues are always happy to explain things to me!
- The importance of being nice. My dad always taught me it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice and it's definitely something i've seen in action here.
One thing you can’t work without?
Tea! Without starting a debate about which tea is best.. about 3 cups of barrys tea a day with the odd herbal tea here and there are perfect for keeping productivity high.
Android or Apple?
If you asked me this a year ago I would have said Apple but I got the OnePlus 6 last year and I love it - I love how customisable Android is in comparison and the battery life and charge time is so much better.
