Know Your Arekibian : Luke

Next on our "Know Your Arekibian" series is Luke, head of operations at Arekibo. Luke has passion for sailing, mountain biking and Munster rugby!

What was your journey to Arekibo?

My journey to Arekibo started in the Construction Industry. I studied Construction Management and worked as an Engineer and Project Manager during the boom times. Fast-forward to 2010 I was actively looking for a career change and I met Martin and the rest is history…

One thing most people don’t know about you?

I represented Ireland in sailing at a junior level. When I filled in my CAO I wanted to study Oceanography.

Project you’re most proud of?

There is no particular project which comes to mind as there has been so many over the last 8 years. What I am most proud of in Arekibo is the team, everyone works together with a common goal in mind to deliver the highest quality service and products.

3 things you have learned during your time in Arekibo?

  1.  Always have an open door, listen to your colleagues and provide the level of support they need both in their personal life and within the work environment.

  2. Understanding the requirements of all stakeholders from the client team.

  3. To deliver the best possible service to our clients we have to have a dedicated team who put our clients first.

One thing you can’t work without?

My water bottle, I drink between 3-4 litres of water a day.

Favourite thing about your job?

Everyday is different, you have to act fast and things change on a daily basis.

Apple or Android? Why?

Android all the way. I used to be an Apple advocate, but I didn't like the way you had to upgrade to the latest phones to avoid losing functionality. Android is customisable, has memory cards and you don't need to re-mortgage the house every two years or so.

Personal motto?

To the brave and faithful, everything is possible. As a proud Munster supporter, I live by this and I always tell my two little girls there is no such thing as "I can't".

One skill you’ve gained since joining Arekibo?

Multitasking, everyone has their own priorities and I have to work through the client’s priorities along with the team’s.
