Know Your Arekibian : Padraic

This is Padraic, a UX designer from Arekibo with a passion for photography, food and travelling.

What was your journey to Arekibo?

This morning? The 8:12 train from Clonsilla to Pearse. Figuratively though, my journey began with a career in Architecture during the busy boom years. When the recession arrived, I decided on a change of directiion. After freelancing for a while in web design, I went back to college to study Digital Media with a focus on User-Centred Design. I then worked at a mobile development company before joining ArekIbo in 2014.

One thing most people don’t know about you?

Despite never learning how to swim, I've (perhaps unwisely) been scuba diving, sea kayaking and surfing.

Project you’re most proud of?

The ESB Networks Mobile Apps programme, where we are applying user research to optimise workflows for Networks staff and move manual and paper based processes to digital.

3 things you have learned during your time in Arekibo?

1. Always learn new things. This industry is moving fast and it's so important to stay informed on technology, methodologies and tools, as well as changing user expectations.
2. The best work comes through collaborating with your team and stakeholders. Everyone has a unique skill set and perspective.
3. Don't rush to solutions before fully understanding the problem. One thing you can’t work without? My morning coffee. And also my talented colleagues here, each of whom has valuable knowledge and experience."
