Know Your Arekibian : Vicki
This is Vicki, a UX/UI designer at Arekibo. As a creative, she is passionate about spray-painting and photography.
What was your journey to Arekibo?
I did a degree in Product Design in Maynooth University and loved the problem solving and research sides of the degree so I got some experience working on a website and in graphic design before applying to Arekibo.
One thing most people don’t know about you?
Most people know my love of music as I'm a gig photographer and I wear a lot of band t-shirts but they don't know that I also play three instruments, bass, drums, guitar and a fourth if you count terrible tin whistle.
Project you’re most proud of?
It's one that I'm still currently working on, an iOS app and two desktop portals, once it's rolled out it will make a lot of people's work lives easier and also it's a great feeling looking at an iOS app that you designed the entire UI for.
3 things you have learned during your time in Arekibo?
- How important and useful design systems are
- The importance of cross team collaboration, talking to other designers as well as developers during the design process to get everyones input
- Organisation within my sketch files, working with Sandra has changed the way I organise my sketch files for the better.
One thing you can’t work without?
My headphones, they stop me from getting distracted and I can't go a whole day without a little dance at my desk.
Favourite thing about your job?
The variety of projects we get to work on, one day I could be working on an internal portal for ESB and the next a public facing website for a client in a completely different industry.
Apple or Android? Why?
I'm torn on this one, I love my android but I miss my iPhone being connected to my Mac and iPad.
