Design standards for digital products

Nutricia use digital to communicate to a wide range of customers. From parents, who have to support their child with a specific nutritional condition, right through to healthcare professionals who advise and support patients.

Nutricia wanted to ensure that their patients and partners could access and navigate across all of their products through a seamless and universal design language.

We have worked in collaboration with Nutricia’s brand teams to develop a design standard that provides a suite of digital assets that can be harnessed for new digital initiatives. These standards have delivered a familiar and seamless visual experience for all as they traverse Nutricia’s online presence.

Collaborating to enhance the delivery of digital services

Our team are continually assessing how digital can be used to enhance the delivery of information and services to Nutricia’s diverse customer base. The primary objective is to ensure that all digital products are created specifically to deliver value, be accessible and usable.

All new products are now created in collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals. Together we workshop the requirements and prototypes and test the intended journeys and features to ensure that the experience is totally focused on their needs.

The end result are products specifically designed and developed to improve, simplify and deliver a seamless and efficient experience across all devices.

Using mobile to improve patient relationship

In collaboration with Nutricia and dieticians we designed a mobile product that allows dieticians across the United Kingdom and Ireland to provide nutritional advice and support to their patients. The Nutricia Dietetic App provides dieticians with a suite of tools to use in their day-to-day work, primarily assisting them in their nutritional assessment of a patient.

Before the app, dietician’s use paper-based product compendium of Nutricia’s product. With the Nutricia Dietetic App the compendium containing the nutritional breakdown information for each Nutricia product across adult, paediatric and metabolic product ranges are now accessible on their smartphones.

The app contains a comprehensive dietetic calculator that provides a complete dietetic workflow from assessing patients’ needs to developing a full program for them and validating that program in action. The app doesn’t require a Wi-Fi or 3G connection, allowing dieticians to access the services in  remote parts of the community or in restricted areas of medical facilities.

Creating tailored digital experiences for families and patients

Nutricia Metabolics have nutritional products that cover approximately 10 rare metabolic conditions that require the patient to be on a low protein diet.  Nutricia required a dedicated online experience (Low Protein Connect) for the UK and Ireland that would support, advise and assist patients (and carers of patients), new parents and teenagers who need to manage the very rare condition called Phenylketonuria (PKU).

As PKU is an inborn metabolic condition that can lead to both physical and mental health issues, digital provides the ideal platform to connect and educate.

The end result, www.lowproteinconnect.com was designed with and by patients, their familiers and carers. Our collaboration throughout the planning and design process has delivered an online experience that is tailored to each profile life stage. The website delivers a platform to share and collaborate and access tailored content, all designed to help support and manage a low protein diet.
