WordPress Support & Maintenance

We deliver dedicated support and maintenance services for WordPress.

Some may argue that WordPress is not suited for enterprise-level needs. They will say the platform struggles to meet large-scale businesses' demands, leading to inefficiencies and security risks. Yip, maybe that is true, but in our experience, many of our clients find WordPress a viable platform for smaller websites and campaign sites.  For some, WordPress has been more than suitable for larger websites.

We offer dedicated support and maintenance services for our clients' WordPress sites. In most cases, we inherit the website from another agency. Once we have audited and migrated your website, we work with your team to support, manage, and further develop your site.

However, you should be aware of some of the support challenges when using WordPress.

Scalability - Plan upfront

WordPress was built for smaller websites, not enterprise-level. As traffic grows, WordPress sites can often experience performance bottlenecks. While there are many ‘performance’ plugins, this isn’t necessarily the solution. We work with your team to analyse and plan for this using scalable infrastructure, performance optimisation, and developing and managing your site using standards and best practice guidelines.

Security – Be vigilant

WordPress is open-source, and therefore makes it an attractive target for hackers. As we say ‘It’s a learning platform for ‘wannabe’ hackers’. You need to plan for regular updates, reduce your need for a range of third-party plugins and need to implement monitoring and security audits. We have seen many enterprises’ IT and Marketing teams failing to recognise the need to plan for this (see next point). Our SLA commitment ensures we manage and audit your website regularly.

Maintenance – Regular updates

Maintaining WordPress can be resource-intensive. Regular updates are necessary for themes (if you're using one), plugins (use only what is necessary), and the core software. Enterprises often underestimate the ongoing maintenance needed, which can result in unforeseen expenses and operational disruptions. Our WordPress support team runs routine audits to protect your investment; while time-intensive, these are necessary if you run WordPress.

Limitations – Choose Plugins carefully

WordPress can lack several out-of-the-box features required by a larger organisation, such as detailed permission/role management and multi-lingual support. Although there are plugins available to use, they can introduce new challenges and support needs. We collaborate with your team to evaluate the feature requirements and plan accordingly to ensure we make the best decisions for your future needs. It’s important to remember that many WordPress plug-ins are created by independent developers who may, at some point, decide to stop developing and supporting their features. While we may have taken responsibility for your wesbite, we have seen plug-ins cause significant issues - don't worry, we work with your team to find a suitable solution.

The good news - we have been developing websites on WordPress since 2008.

We have significant experience helping our clients maintain, support, and continue to enhance their WordPress websites year after year. It has been a great platform for their needs and has empowered their teams throughout. The key to our success was assessing the risks and opportunities from the beginning and planning for ongoing support needs once launched.
